Cooking With Costa Rica Descents
Costa Rica Descents Cooking School is family run by specialises in traditional Costa Rican dishes.
The original cooking school started in La Fortuna and runs simultaneous courses in Arenal and Sarapiqui daily. The family runs two classes a day which includes an introduction and small talk about how to make tipical Tamales and the use of Costa Rican herbs and spices. Then participants learn how to cook 8 different recipes and taste their dishes. After cooking and eating participants will then get to join an organic farm tour and are served complimentary freshly squeezed sugar cain juice and moon shine shots made from sugar cane.
The morning and afternoon classes vary slightly with an introduction to raw food desserts in the morning and a focus on cold recipes such as salads in the afternoon.
The most popular class, Tico cooking, runs two times daily at 9:00 and 14:00 and cost $65 per person. It is advised to book ahead during high season as the classes are quite popular. Costa Rica Descents Cooking School also has an express class which is only two hours and includes three dishes and dessert. The express classes cost $45 and runs at 15:00 and 17:00 daily.
In La Fortuna The Family also offers 5 and 10 day cooking courses for those who really want to dive deep into Tipical Tico cuisine, as well as a one day raw food workshop.
